🤱 Mother's query (in Urdu /

Translation: "Doctor, I have hepatitis B. I am very scared that my newborn baby will also get this disease. Can I breastfeed my baby? Is there any treatment to protect the baby? Please tell me what to do so my baby stays safe."

💡 High-yield medical points for Hepatitis B in pregnancy:
Vertical transmission risk: 70-90% if mother is HBeAg positive; 10-30% if HBeAg negative without prophylaxis.
Post-exposure prophylaxis (given within 12 hours of birth): Hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) 0.5 mL IM + first dose of Hepatitis B vaccine (0.5 mL IM) at different sites.
Vaccination schedule: Birth (0), 1 month, 6 months (3 doses). Test for HBsAg and anti-HBs at 9-12 months to confirm protection.
Breastfeeding: Safe after immunoprophylaxis. No contraindication. No increased risk of transmission.
Mother's treatment: If high viral load (>200,000 IU/mL) in third trimester, antiviral (tenofovir) reduces transmission risk.
Efficacy: HBIG + vaccine ~90-95% effective in preventing perinatal transmission.
